In September 2007 the PRINCE2 Exam Board
introduced a radical change to the format of the Practitioner Examination.
This saw the end of open-ended “essay” questions and
replaced them with closed, objective questions in what is now called
the PRINCE2 Objective Testing Exam (OTE).
The exam is certainly no less challenging. The OTE is still based
on a general project scenario, and uses a range of question types
which are designed to test a candidate’s knowledge, understanding
and ability to apply, analyse and evaluate all aspects of PRINCE2.
Candidates have 3 hours to complete the paper and can refer to
the PRINCE2 manual but no other references. The paper includes questions
on each of the major elements of PRINCE2. There are nine questions
each worth 40 marks. This gives a total of 360 marks and the pass
mark is 180. Each of the nine questions will be sub-divided into
parts. The paper is now marked by computer, greatly reducing the
waiting time for results.
How can Benchmark help?
Our PRINCE2 training materials have been rewritten, with exercises
which reflect the new-style questions. A big advantage of the new
exam is that delegates on our courses can sit a realistic mock examination.
Click on the links in the sidebar for a detailed explanation of
the new format and to see examples of questions based on one of
Benchmark’s project scenarios.
Benchmark’s OTE Results so far
We have been extremely pleased with the examination results we
have had since September, and believe it reflects the excellent
quality of our course materials and course design.
