Building Schools

Between now and 2020 the UK Government plans to invest around £100 billion in two school rebuilding programmes: Building Schools for the Future (secondary schools) and the Primary Capital Programme (primary schools). Almost every local authority in the country will be involved and the programmes will generate opportunities for builders, architects and I.T. and other equipment and service providers.

Involving the Whole Team – In order to deliver a successful school build project, local authorities, school staff, parents, pupils, builders, architects and service and equipment suppliers all need to be involved at the appropriate time. PRINCE2 with its emphasis on early and continuous cooperation between customers and suppliers is therefore particularly suitable for school building or refurbishment projects.

Tailored Training Material - All of our PRINCE2 training courses include a significant element of realistic case study work. However, we believe that the size – and importance - of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) and Primary Capital (PCP) programmes requires even more focused training material.

Real World Case Studies - We have therefore worked closely with the British Council for School Environments (BCSE) to develop a range of PRINCE2 training courses aimed at school building projects.  The focus of this training programme is on enabling all those involved in school build projects from customers (local authorities, schools, parents, pupils) to individual commercial suppliers – to deliver a successful project.  There is no emphasis on preparing delegates to take the PRINCE2 examinations during the courses although the exams may be taken separately. Instead delegates will have the opportunity to examine in depth a range of issues including planning, risk management and change control based on lessons already learned by BSCE members in real projects.
