About our trainers
Steve Tofts
Steve’s project management experience was developed during his nineteen year career as an officer in the Royal Air Force where he was involved in a range of communications, operational and training projects. After a secondment to the Foreign Office where he successfully delivered a project to set up the infrastructure for the National Elections in Bosnia-Herzegovina he joined Securicor Information Systems as a project manager. During his time with Securicor he managed a range of public sector and IT projects and became a PRINCE2™ practitioner in 2002.
Steve developed Benchmark's range of PRINCE2® and generic project management
courses for accreditation by the Association of Project Management Group
(APMG) and is our Lead Trainer. He has delivered training events and consulting in the financial services, central and local government, communications, civil engineering the utilities and the not-for profit sector. He is an accredited PRINCE2 trainer and specialises in integrating a range of project management skills and techniques, including leadership, team building, and coaching skills at senior executive level, with project management standards such as PRINCE2 and the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
Chris Aris
Chris has thirty years’ experience as a project manager in the public sector, where he specialised in building management and, latterly, telecom projects. He became a
qualified PRINCE2 trainer in 1999 and has been a training associate for
Benchmark for nearly three years. Chris has provided PRINCE2 and other project manager training to a range of clients including NHS Trusts, the BBC, the London School of Economics, Atos Origin, Accenture and a number of Local Authorities.
John Power
John has over twenty years’ experience of managing IT projects and programmes spanning a range of industries including engineering, financial services, energy and government. An accredited PRINCE2 practitioner since 1997, he has delivered a number of projects using the method and has been involved in learning and development since 2002. He has also worked with a number of universities on a variety of Project Management education courses including Diploma and MSc programmes at Lancaster University where he is an Honorary Teaching Fellow. He has an MSc in Project Management and is a member of the British Computer Society and the Association for Project Management.
