MSP® Advanced Practitioner Certificate
Audience
This 2 day class is for Programme staff requiring an excellent understanding in the principles and theory of MSP® supported by practical application. The course is particularly suitable for (aspiring) programme managers, and other key staff involved in the design, development and delivery of programmes including :
- Programme Directors
- Senior Responsible Owners
- Business Change Managers
- Programme Office Manager
- Programme Office staff
- Project Executives and Managers
Attendees require a good general level of understanding that comes from having worked within large programmes and to have the MSP® Practitioner Qualification. If a candidate wishes to sit the Advanced Practitioner examination before they have their results from the Practitioner exam, they may do so. However, MSP candidates who pass the Advanced Practitioner exam yet fail the Practitioner exam must re-sit the Practitioner exam within 24 months to validate their Registered Advanced Practitioner Status.
What is MSP? MSP® (Managing Successful Programmes) is a framework for managing change and delivering organizational benefits from a set of related projects. It is regarded as best practice in the UK and is used by government departments, local authorities, charities and commercial organizations to coordinate and direct programmes of all kinds, regardless of scope, timescale or budget.
Objectives
The course will enable delegates to :
- Apply MSP Principles, Governance Themes and Transformational Flow to real life situations
- Become thoroughly versed in key linkages between MSP Governance Themes, Transformational Flow, Deliverables and Roles
- Prepare for and take the MSP Advanced Practitioner examination
Duration
Two days. Pre-course work and Examination
To maximise learning on the course and to give the best chance of passing the examination, delegates need to complete a minimum of 10 hours pre-course work. This mainly comprises preparing sample deliverables based on the Advanced Practitioner examination case study. Some work is recommended in the evening of the first day, to prepare for the examination. The MSP Advanced Practitioner examination is 3 hours and comprises up to 3 questions. There are 75 marks, with a pass mark of 38 marks. The course fee includes a copy of the latest edition of the official MSP Guide and all examination fees.

The case study from the MSP® Advanced Practitioner examination is used extensively throughout the course to allow delegates to consolidate their skill in applying MSP through hands-on work and to become immersed in the case study.
